Grocery store produce can often times be lackluster, and because of the long transport times, can lack flavor. If you are looking for a more flavorful, fresh option that has been grown with care right in your backyard, then getting your flowers, eggs and vegetables from a local farm is definitely the way to go! Here are just a few reasons why you should get your eggs and vegetables from a farm:
Farm fresh taste – Produce that comes straight from the farm to your kitchen is noticeably fresher, tastier, and more flavorful than store bought produce. You’ll be able to enjoy the true flavors of each item you buy.

Reduced carbon footprint – Shopping locally helps reduce the amount of pollutants released into the environment from long transport times.

Supporting local farmers – When you buy from a farm like M2G2, your money goes directly to supporting that farm and their family rather than a large corporation. You’ll be helping them continue to grow delicious produce for everyone in the area.

Flower FAQ
WHY LOCAL FLOWERS?
You may be wondering why local flowers are any different than what you pick up at the grocery store.
When you buy locally grown flowers, you will get more time with your flowers compared to when purchased from the grocery store or flower shop.
Flowers purchased from stores often have a short shelf life because they are cut too early and shipped to stores from places around the world. Whereas flowers purchased from local growers can last up to two weeks since they are harvested at the right time and their only travel time is into your hands.
Flowers grown locally will also contain larger varieties of flowers. Many bouquets from stores only contain up to three flower varieties and they charge upwards of 20 dollars for it. For the same price from a local grower, you could get around eight different types of flowers in one bouquet.
An added benefit to buying from local flower farmers is the second-hand help you’re providing to the bee, insect and wildlife populations of your area. By buying from local growers you support their business, which in turn stimulates their growth and expansion.
This means more flowers for the bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and other flower-loving wildlife.
Buying from local flower farmers is much like buying locally grown foods. It supports the local economy and can become a form of activism by standing against harsh chemicals and pesticides. It can also help diminish carbon emissions by preventing the transport of flowers from across the world to your area.
Having a bouquet of fresh flowers is enough to brighten anyone’s home. They can provide a glimmer of joy, a pop of color and their sweet smells to your home for the short time you might have with them.
This time of year might be tricky to find fresh flowers from local growers. But once flowers are in season again, there are many places where you can buy flowers from local growers. Next time you are looking to buy some flowers to brighten up your home, think of your local flower farmers first.

WHY FLOWERS?
We grow flowers for a simple reason: we love them, and they are beautiful.
The cut flower part of our farm is pure joy. While food is stunningly beautiful, we also feel strongly about the importance of ephemeral, nature-based, beauty-for-beauty's sake in our lives. The beauty of flowers is a true form of nourishment: there is nothing like the jolt of joy that comes from seeing a truly gorgeous dahlia bloom, or a wild and rambling arrangement. It makes us pause, just for a moment. Helps us be present. Connects us to the seasons, and to the wild natural world that's out there doing it's own thing, breathing just like we do. This is why we grow flowers.

HOW WE GROW
We grow our flowers using organic methods, just like our veggies. We are very conscious of the fact our blooms are visited thousands of times a day by all kinds of pollinators--honey bees, lacewings, butterflies, hover flies, and so many more. These insect friends are very valuable in the farm ecosystem, providing pollination and eating pests. We want them to make their home here, and be safe from harm. Beyond the pollinators, we also believe you should be able to bury your face in a bouquet without any worry over what you might be exposed to: our flowers are fresh, have lovely subtle scent, and are totally safe to breathe in!

OUR FLOWERS
Our flowers are grown using organic practices on just under 1/4 acre on our farm. We grow more than 50 types of flowers and well over 150 cultivars in a wide variety of colors, shapes and sizes, to span the seasons from spring until frost (roughly mid-March to mid-November). We focus on unique, unusual, colorful, and delightfully scented varieties that come together to make our bouquets something really special and reflective of the season.
